I was looking to join a team sport and rugby didn't care if I was the tallest, fastest or the strongest. The Thorns welcomed me with open arms and they continue to support, teach and encourage me!

I've always loved the idea of playing rugby and after some encouragement to come down to a training session by a few friends, I sucked it up and went, I haven't looked back once. I wish I'd done it sooner! The whole team, be it players, families, friends, supporters, kids or coaches are all so welcoming, kind and friendly. Both the girls and our coaches have been so patient while teaching me skills, rules of the game and hitting me with little nuggets of wisdom as we go. I learn something new in every match or training session, and leave feeling energised,…

Couple of seasons back I played for the Thorns, since then I have never looked back. Not knowing anyone I was welcomed with open arms. I’ve built great friendships and learned so much from our coaches. Joining the Thorns is the best thing I’ve ever done. Rugby has always been a passion of mine. As well@as playing I coach kids first section & u6s-u13s and been awarded kids first mentor by the RFU. I’m also a qualified level 2 coach. I’m happy to be part of an amazing team!

I love rugby, but you can play rugby anywhere. What you can’t always find is a group of incredible women who you want to play for on the pitch, work hard with at training, and party with at the weekend. As with many of the other girls, I was brought along by a friend, and have developed some of the most incredible friendships at the club. For me Crowthorne also played a really important role in becoming confident in my sexuality. I came out shortly before joining, and felt quite ashamed of being gay. There weren’t many other LGBT people at the club, but…

I got into Rugby because when I went to university there was no gymnastics team and I thought I thought why not. I joined the thorns because I was new to the area and everyone was so friendly and welcoming it was an easy choice of team to stay with

I moved to Bracknell last year and I had wanted to find a hobby but also to make friends.I never imagined I would be on a rugby team, i'd never watched or played the game before. However one of the Thorns gave me a lift to an Inner Warrior session so that I didn't have to go alone and I couldn't believe how kind that was, I knew they would be a lovely team.I am still new to rugby but I absolutely love training, I’ve learned more about myself and my motivation to be stronger and healthier is more than ever. My…

I first played rugby at school and after being told I can’t play with the boys anymore I decided to give a local club a try. After that I quickly got into county and then south east England trials. I stopped playing for about 3 years due to exams and a new job and missed playing every day. I played a match for crowthorne and felt like part of the team right away! I’m looking forward to playing for thorns this season and improving myself as a player.
