Crows Vs Thatcham

Once again, the weather was on our side with a glorious afternoon at the Nest, as the Crows took on Thatcham in the mid-October sunshine. In the pack, there were returns to action for Olly Penn at Hooker, Dan Nicholson in the 2nd row and a debut for fresh face 47-year-old, Sean Gale on the flank! In the backs, the Crows welcomed back Rob Brydon doppelgänger, John Holden at 10, moustachioed centre Declan Ellis in the centres and pint-sized plumber, Karl Pearce on the left wing. Crows Vs Tadley II

The Crows returned to the Nest on the 10th of October for yet another unseasonably sunny October day.  This match went ahead in very unusual circumstances but everyone at Crowthorne had huge admiration for Tadley 2’s for doing everything they could to ensure a game of rugby went ahead. To add context, this weekend was not originally a scheduled league weekend. However, due to the season being delayed by the Summer drought, there was now a full list of fixtures. This had a huge impact on teams all over the Country, with many games not going ahead. The Crows themselves had several players unavailable,…

Berkshire Shire Hall Vs Crows

On an unseasonably bright and sunny October day, the Crows travelled to the unusual surroundings of Reading school, as Shire Hall’s usual home pitch in Sonning was still unplayable, following the Summer drought. Due to a special offer event hosted by Mounjaro, no fewer than 7 front rows were unavailable for this fixture, meaning that the Crows pieced together a makeshift front row of marathon enthusiast and former player James Derlacki, 47 year old veteran Jake Mollett playing on his old school pitch and Titan of Tinder, Sam Taff manfully filling in at tight head! Aside from the temporary front row crisis,…

Crows Vs Reading III

After a prolonged pre-season due to the RFU’s nationwide response to the Summer drought, competitive rugby finally returned to the Nest and a decent sized crowd gathered to see the new look Crows in action. There has been much change over the Summer with a new coaching team installed and a healthy influx of new players, leading to record numbers of player registrations and memberships paid, which will help to propel the clubs plans to grow and further enhance our offering over the coming seasons. Firstly, the Coaches. After serving a lengthy sentence at Bracknell, Matt Turner returns as a Coach and…

Rams IV Vs Crows

The Crows travelled to Rams' impressive Old Bath Road ground on a sunny February day, with a strong squad in determined mood. The Crows had 5 changes in the pack, 2 positional, with Osborne back in his familiar loose head position, Bullett back into hooker, Mollett at tight head, Clarkson shifting to openside and George Watson back in at number 8. There were also 2 changes in the backline, with Smith in for the departed Lang and Coombes starting at 12. The Rams ranks were bolstered by the…

Crows Vs Phoenix

January 28th 2023 marked the club's annual Presidents day. A great opportunity to honour a founding member and long term servant of the club, Ian "Chippy" Macleod! To start the day, the Thorns put on a fine display in an excellent festival of Women's rugby, in which 3 teams combined to put on an entertaining game and a good time was had by all who took part. Following this, the President's lunch got into full swing. So much so, that the assembled dignitaries completely forgot to bring the new scoreboard to the touchline for a pre match presentation. However, that was rectified…
